Plant mangrove seedlings

In October 2021, La Union was heavily ravaged by typhoon "Maring," which brought strong winds accompanied by torrential rains that flooded many areas in the province and severely damaging infrastructure and agriculture.

Because of climate change, these kinds of typhoons are predicted to be more frequent, and La Union's coastal communities, such as the weavers of Bangar, are vulnerable to rising sea levels. Mangrove trees provide a valuable buffer to coastal communities against pounding storm surges. They can help absorb carbon quickly.

By supporting the mangrove planting in Bangar, you can help us co-create the sustainability of the artisans' work through a safe and climate resilient living environment.

Did you know that Nipa is a mangrove palm? This tree has many practical uses: its leaves can be used to weave baskets, mats, hats, aside from roof thatching, walls, and partitions.
